Publisher 2002
Publish Like A Pro
 |
Microsoft's
desktop publishing program, the aptly named Publisher,
isn't exactly new to the market. In fact, for 10
years now, it's offered design-impaired, time-crunched,
and cash-strapped business owners and home users
a way to produce newsletters, brochures, flyers,
and more. So why cover it here? Sometimes an upgrade
offers so many new features that we can't ignore
the overall package. Publisher 2002 is just that
with tons of tools, templates, and toys to get your
attention.

Most
desktop publishing packages claim they offer professional
templates; Publisher means it with 35 Master Sets that
feature great-looking graphics, carefully selected color
and font schemes, and eye-catching layouts (more than
8,500 combinations). In fact, Microsoft upped the template
ante by hiring three firms to design 15 new Master Sets,
meaning you'll find looks you want to use, not just basic
layouts with the brash colors and cheesy clip art offered
in some packages.
