It's
not tough to find a 17-inch CRT these days: Look
around; they're everywhere. Better yet, they're
relatively cheap. The trouble here is choice. How
do you shop a crowded market and commit to just
one without regretting your decision? This isn't
an issue with Sony's CPD-G220R/L, a trusty and well-performing
17-inch CRT that'll catch your eye and hold your
gaze even after you've taken it home.
The
CPD-G220R/L's OSD was extremely easy to pick up
with one-button access to a main menu of all the
standard settings categorized by size/center, geometry,
color, convergence, language, and option. Be sure
to take note of the option submenu, where you'll
find the trusty factory reset feature, a key tool
you might just need after toying with geometry settings
that let you tilt, slant, and expand your picture
for possible skewing. A second joystick style button
moves in four directions for easy navigation through
menus and submenus, and it doubles as a quick access
route to the often-used brightness and contrast
controls.
